1:1 Herbal Care
1:1 herbal care appointments a comprehensive health and energetic evaluation according to Chinese Medicine (CM). In the initial appointment, we will collaborate to get to the root cause(s) of what’s going on in your health. Consults are from an hour and a half to two hours long, including questioning around areas like sleep, diet, digestion and mental health, as well as CM evaluative tools like tongue assessment. After determining what the foundation of your constitution is and what imbalances are present, you will receive recommendations for one or two herbal formulas along with a wellness plan that includes practical tools for wellness - including spirituality, movement, and food therapy, depending on your preferences. This service is best as an ongoing therapeutic relationship.
Individualized herbal support is an excellent form of complementary and preventive care in an integrative approach to health and wellness; herbs can aid in relieving stress, digestion, headaches, joint pain, night sweats, emotional challenges, difficult life transitions, and so much more. Herbs are amazing allies, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. They can have profound benefits individually and especially in formulas, where many plant compounds cooperate to create greater harmony than each compound could alone, promoting synergy in the body. Among their many benefits, herbs offer nutrients, antioxidants, and the power to effectively move and nourish vital forms of energy like Qi and Blood.
1:1 herbal care appointments include a comprehensive health and energetic evaluation according to Chinese Medicine (CM). Chinese Medicine is a complete medical system that has been practiced for over 2,000 years, with a rich tradition and modern presence of herbal care.
During the initial appointment, you will have ample opportunity to share your wellness goals, and we will work together to get to the root cause(s) of what’s going on in your health. Initial consults include between an hour and a half to two hours of questioning around areas like sleep, diet, digestion and mental health, as well as CM evaluative tools like tongue assessment. By the end of the evaluation we will be able to determine the foundations of your energetic constitution and its current state, including what imbalances are present. We will then further discuss your health needs and goals, and within one week of the appointment you will receive a recommendation of one or two custom herbal formulas along with a wellness plan that includes practical tools for wellness - including spiritual practices, movement, and food therapy, according to your preferences. Herbal formulas are available in many different forms, including teas, tinctures, capsules, powders, and topicals to name a few. Formula preparations are individualized, depending on what best suits your needs.
Herbal care is best as an ongoing therapeutic relationship, typically with biweekly or monthly follow-ups, and progressing formulas over time. Duration and frequency of care is specific to each person, considering factors like current health, future goals, history of illness, and formulas given. These appointments last between 30-60 minutes. During follow-ups, we will review your experience with your formula in order to make any changes or adjustments, and check in with your health. We will also make any necessary adjustments to your goals and wellness plan.
For the initial appointment, please have any medications or supplements you are currently taking on hand, as well as any blood work results. The cost of herbs is not included in the appointment fee. At this time, herbal consultations are being offered virtually only.
I also offer a free 15-minute exploratory call to help determine if working together would be a good fit.
Scope of Practice
In my clinical practice, I have offered support in the areas of: irregular menstruation, menstrual pain, chronic illness, infertility, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, stress, anger, mental health conditions, digestive issues, cancer support (under the guidance of my mentor and in conjunction with medical care), diabetes (in conjunction with medical care), spiritual disturbances, deficiency-related issues, auto-immune conditions, allergies, insomnia, sleep, varicose veins, hormonal imbalances, incontinence, ear infection care (in conjunction with medical interventions), animal care, and more. If you reach out to work 1:1 with me and I feel as though your needs are not within my scope of practice or are beyond my level of experience, I will refer you to a more experienced clinical herbalist. As an herbalist, I am not a practitioner of medicine, but I understand the necessity of integrative care. Herbal medicine can be helpful for many health and wellness concerns, but there are also many reasons why herbal medicine would not be an appropriate approach. If you come to me for care and I determine that your needs are outside of my scope of practice and/or need further intervention than I can provide, I will refer you to a Western or functional doctor, specialist, or emergency treatment.
